Karen Stobbe & Mondy Carter

Karen Stobbe switched her career from theatre and improvisation to healthcare when her dad, Manfred, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Since then, she has served as the Director of Education for Pioneer Network, written over 12 training programs and spoken all across North America. Karen was also the co-creator of the Hand in Hand Training program for Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, which was distributed to every nursing home in the U.S. Mondy Carter worked as a commercial and stage actor for 30 years and now animates videos, having produced over 200 training videos. He has also directed and served as lead videographer and editor and worked as a voice actor and live actor. Karen and Mondy were featured in Real Simple magazine, NPR’s This American Life and performed a national TEDMED Talk. Just one year after Karen’s dad passed away, her mom, Virginia, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Virginia lived with Karen and Mondy for 11 years. Gerrit Theule |
Gerrit is a founding partner of Wolseley Law LLP. He is a former board member of The Law Society of Manitoba and has been on a number of community boards. He is the chair of the board of directors of the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba and a former chair of the Manitoba Bar Association’s Wills and Estates Section Executive. Jessica Harper

Jessica Harper is a registered social worker and joined the Alzheimer Society in June 2017 as a Client Support Coordinator. She later transitioned to the role of First Link® Client Services Manager, and most recently into the role of First Link® Senior Manager. Jessica is responsible for overseeing the delivery of one-to-one support and support group programming across the province, helping to ensure clients have access to dementia expertise to guide them on their journey. Samantha Holland

Samantha Holland is a registered social worker with the Alzheimer Society in 2018. When she transitioned to Regional Coordinator for Interlake-Eastern, she was integral in reviving the Ambiguous Loss Support Group for virtual participants. For the last two years, Samantha has been in the role of First Link® Regional Team Lead, overseeing the day-to-day operations of Society offices outside of Winnipeg. Morning Breakout Session |
Meagan Fitzpatrick

Meagan is a registered social worker and has worked with the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba since 2021. She started as a First Link® Client Support Coordinator and is currently an Education Coordinator. Her passion for dementia care developed when she first worked as a social worker in long-term care. When facilitating education sessions, Meagan communicates the experiences of people living with dementia and their care partners while fostering strategies that promote person-centred care. 10:45 am - 12 pm

Jamie L. Penner

Jamie Penner is an Instructor and the Director of Curriculum Integrity in the College of Nursing, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba. She teaches undergraduate nursing courses in Supportive and Palliative Care, and Family Health, and co-developed and teaches an interdisciplinary and intergenerational course in Family Caregiving Across the Lifespan. With more than 20 years of experience in nursing practice, research and education, Jamie is deeply committed to advocating for family care partners and educating and empowering all sectors of the community to engage in helping family care partners thrive. Allison is the Pharmacy Manager with the WRHA Continuing Care. Her role supports pharmacy services in personal care homes in the five regions across Manitoba. Allison completed her Masters of Health Management from McMaster University in 2022. Nicole has been advocating for individuals with the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba since 2022, ensuring everyone has access to community resources. Prior to joining the Society, Nicole worked in various roles within rural recreation and non-profit management. She holds a Recreation Management and Community Development Degree from the University of Manitoba, Applied Counselling Certificate from Red River College and is the Dementia-Friendly Communities Senior Manager with the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Dr. Lois Stewart-Archer

Dr. Stewart-Archer is a Regional Clinical Nurse Specialist with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority's Rehabilition, Healthy Aging and Seniors Care, and a research affiliate with the Manitoba Centre for Nursing and Health Research. Dr. Stewart-Archer provides consultations regarding the management of challenging issues related to older adults and is also a certified facilitator and coach of various dementia and intellectual disability education programs.
